The Bamberg State Library is located in two of the baroque wings of the New Residence, formerly the seat of the Bamberg prince bishops. The elongated, three-story representative wings line the cathedral square to the northwest and northeast; diagonally opposite are the Bamberg Cathedral and the Old Court, the old residence of the prince-bishops.
The entrance to the library is the first door to the right in the passageway of the entrance immediately behind the main gate. A ramp for wheelchairs is available. Our service entrance is the left door on the building wing facing the city, at the end of the Vierzehnheiligenpavillon. Please ring here for deliveries.
Walking time from the Bamberg train station (Ludwigstraße 6, 96052 Bamberg) to the Bamberg State Library is about 25 minutes.
The Bamberg State Library is located directly on the cathedral square (Domplatz) and is easily accessible by city bus line 910 (bus stop Domplatz). From the train station, take bus lines 901, 902, 907, 911, 914, 931, or 935 from the station Bahnhof/Ludwigstraße to Stadtmitte/ZOB two stops. Change there to the bus line 910 and go five stops to Domplatz. From there, it is a minute’s walk to the library.
